In the 40's this stairway lead up to a dance hall. I can just imagine all the fabulous 40's era shoes, dresses and hair, and bright red lips smoking cigarettes and dancing the night away.
The mustardy yellow below the bannister is all metal and has a swirly pattern on it.
Action is from Loca Luna, I believe it is the Southern Spirit Action.
See next 2 photos of the skylight above this stairway, and outside of building.
HSS!!
We ran across this really small town that had so much character. This building was just amazing. There is a dumpster just below where I cut off the photo, they are working on it so hopefully it is going to be a full restoration. There was new wood that had already been installed in the framing and roof. I thought the metal trim with such detail was so cool.
My husband struck up a conversation with a local man, he was 85 and grew up there. He said he forgot what this building was originally but it later became a hat factory, and in the '40s the upstairs was a dance hall.
This is what I saw when I started to climb the stairs, and it just took my breath away. This has been one of my real first entrances to something that you can just feel the history to and see such magnificent work.
