Gradient

Today I dabbled into layers with the gradient hence the overly colorful photo for the day. It is so cool when you learn something new in editing. I thought this fit since the sun was setting anyway.

This was a leather factory, they were considered THE people for leather back in the day. They even made a saddle for Roy Rogers. I'm finding all kinds great things out on my explorations.

I would be lost without you

87.365

I am really a person who cherishes the past, I really love history and all the old ways. I'm not really fond of all this technology, I do have a cell phone of course but I refuse to get a smart phone and an ebook thingy - I love books, I love the feel of them in my hands, the smell of them, love them. I don't have anything against people who do I just don't want them at this moment in time. I don't want them taking over my life.

But I do have to admit I would be lost without my laptop its has opened up a new world to me with flickr and all the photo blogs/ help websites, etc. I do love all I can do with my photos on it and the loads of info I have learned. Although I do try to make my time as quick as I can on here so I can LIVE a little, but next to my camera I would be so lost if something happened to it.

Holy Buffalo!!

86.365

I know now they are called "Bison" but I grew up knowing them as Buffalo so whatever. Anyway we were driving around looking for photo ops and look what we ran across!!!! Buffalo!! I didn't even have to go to Yellowstone!! I was so stoked to find them, so cool!!! Well that was my excitement for the day. *I just want to note that there was another line of fence in the back I did not clone stamp that - I doubled checked the original, it was/is bothering me.

I have to agree with her.

I love how her paw is stretched out, whenever you speak to her she does that pawing thing with her paws like the kittens do when they're nursing on their Mama.

St. Patricks Day

75.365

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Yes I am wearing green today, my youngest son gladly wore green too however my older son refused, ok whatevs. But we are eating cornbeef tonight, with a mustard/brown sugar glaze -yum- My mother's receipe that I wasn't so crazy about growing up, but now I love!

I was wondering how many shamrock pics there would be today and how I could make it different. I know it's all about the green but I walk to the beat of a different drum anyway and am finally very comfortable doing it and to be honest I kinda like it! So I thought this sorta fit. There is a green background anyway, and this type of clover had the prettiest heart shaped leaves.

*St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people.

Who came up with that?

I ran across this and thought it was pretty funny. There is some dispute about its truth but I thought it was funny, just click the link below and it will take you to a blog. Pretty interesting & funny if true.

Bird on a wire

73.365

You know when you take a bunch of shots and just by chance you say aww heck let me get a shot of that - not expecting it to be anything special. Once you get home and see it (that one shot) you say, hey I really like that. I love when that happens. Well this is one of those shots, I like it.

Night blossoms

71.365

Busy day today, this is all I got.

Dance the night away?

In the 40's this stairway lead up to a dance hall. I can just imagine all the fabulous 40's era shoes, dresses and hair, and bright red lips smoking cigarettes and dancing the night away.

The mustardy yellow below the bannister is all metal and has a swirly pattern on it.

Action is from Loca Luna, I believe it is the Southern Spirit Action.

See next 2 photos of the skylight above this stairway, and outside of building.

Dance the night away?

We ran across this really small town that had so much character. This building was just amazing. There is a dumpster just below where I cut off the photo, they are working on it so hopefully it is going to be a full restoration. There was new wood that had already been installed in the framing and roof. I thought the metal trim with such detail was so cool.

My husband struck up a conversation with a local man, he was 85 and grew up there. He said he forgot what this building was originally but it later became a hat factory, and in the '40s the upstairs was a dance hall.

To be restored

This is what I saw when I started to climb the stairs, and it just took my breath away. This has been one of my real first entrances to something that you can just feel the history to and see such magnificent work.

Traveling Road

70.365

I really had such a hard time picking a photo for today. But it is already 9 pm and I am tired! So I just did with this one, but I have so many to upload, in time I guess. My husband took me to a cool place today, we saw a ghost town that he didn't even know was there, a really charming tiny little town, and so many cool old places I almost ran out of memory.

So todays pic is one of the roads we were traveling on. It really struck me that this is probably what alot of travelers saw back in the day when they traveled through this state that I love so much. Nothing but forest on either side. Simple, and I like simple!

Mrs. H

69.365

I love her.
She is the best.
I am a caretaker for her, which doesn't even seem like a job with her.
She is very lonely, and misses her Husband so much. He has been gone now for 3 years and she is waiting on the Lord to call as she says. I love to hear all her stories about growing up in North Dakota on the prairie. She is good to the core, and she is funny! I wanted to share her with everyone.

This morning the sun is out, the sky is blue, what more could you ask for?

66.365

I had a little bit of a time picking today's pic, but this one won out. I liked the tree up in the corner, and the horses down in the opposite corner. There are alot of details in this pic but I kinda like the way they work together.

I just realized I had 2 day 60's :O all fixed now. :)

Nervous Nelly

63.365

This is my Nervous Nelly, she is so neurotic but I still love her. She was abused when she was very young but she is super sweet and to me that is the most important. (She is 24 and still acts like a filly.)

A little window in time

63.365

I have seen this many times and had to go by it today and thought it the perfect time to get a shot. There was a coke, and a RC sign as well which I did get some shots of but I liked the shape of this sign.

Boys in the wood

61.365

Our back yard is woods, which the boys love. They have all kinds of adventures. Here is a candid shot of them inspecting a salt lick for the deer. We have deer that come through our back yard all the time, a path they use for crossing. We made a new path through the woods not long ago (For us to go to the creek) and one of the boys had to show me that the deer were using it. He was awed as he showed me the tracks.

I'm not sure what this place was or is now, and I don't normally name old buildings but this just said I'm Bessie. The awning kind of reminds me of a skirt and the windows are a pale blue. But I love the colors of the rust and windows. I'm posting 2 others because I am in love with these actions they are just so cool!!!
