We had the most beautiful weekend, it got up to 71 degrees! The sun was so needed around here with all of this freezing, rain, snow and cloudy weather we have had. Well it couldn't last forever, today is a drizzly day which is fine. It will make the next sunny day that much more enjoyable.



Ok, now I can't help but brag a little, sorry but I'm human! I have been working alot with textures and have learned a few things in the past few days so here is one that I really like. I call it "Falling to pieces"

The weather today was fantastic! After taking the kids skating, we decided to sit out on the porch with a Corona and soak up the warm day. I think the birds were all thinking the same thing cause they were all a singing. Even our Owls were out, one (unbeknownst to us) was sitting high above us in the big pine. We didn't know until he flew into the woods and started calling back and forth with their mate. Really great day!

Busy week, TGIF! Getting ready to jet off to another b-ball game and ran outside to see what I could snap a shot of. My whole back yard which is woods is mostly Pine trees, so I just really love this little Beech with it's grooved leaves.



AND since it's Friday I'll post my picture for "Fence Friday" today because its one of my absolute faves from late last summer. It is the fence in front of a really old house on main street in a little town we drove through.

2. It would be a really good idea to buy a backup battery.

On the way to a basketball game today we drove through a beautiful country side with HUGE trees. I liked this one with a touch of the fence line in it. The skies were so blue, gorgeous day!

Today was such a good day. We went wandering around in the country and ran smack into a farm that dated back to the late 1700's. There was sooooo much to photograph. I had a really hard time picking out today's post!! Well this is it, one of my faves.

A cabin built by braves

I just love this little cabin.

It belonged to John Bowman who was a courier to Gen. Andrew Jackson in the war of 1812. He was also friends with a Cherokee Chief, who gave him the land rather than lose it to the U.S. government. Three braves help him build this log cabin which was originally on a plantation in the area.

Had to put up a few more, we finally made it out to the horses today and I got a few pics. The kids were sledding in front and Joy watched them full of fear, thinking they would at any moment come and eat her. Casper was more curious to see if we had any food.

Happy 1-11-11

Well we are offically snowed in here in Georgia. Three days out of school so far, and although I am getting stir crazy I have had plenty to do with all this time. I've actually had time to go through my favorite photostreams and groups on flickr, been catching up on the book I'm reading right now "The City of Z", catching up on blogs, email, favorite websites etc. But I am missing the outdoors, we have had a few snowball fights but that usually sends me in pretty quickly. The kids are really lovin' the all you can eat, free snow.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!

Snow day for the kids, today and tomorrow - they already called.
Our street is pretty unusable, so the kids have confiscated it for the day.
The compacted snow into ice makes for long runs on the beach boogie boards.

How this day is going:
Bundle up, go outside & play in the snow.
Come in, strip off wet clothes.
Put on dry clothes.
Fill up with hot soup.
Play transformers video game. (The kids that is)

While testing shutter speeds, and lighting I came across some way cool things! I tried out a few different shapes and such but liked this one the best, and it was the very first one I took.

This one was cute so I'll post it too; Who doesn't love doing shadows on the wall? The kids were playing around and I shot a few, I like this one although my younger son's head looks pretty much like an alien.

I am learning that maybe I need to try to get my shots alot earlier before I get stuck in the house looking for something to photograph when its dark. Well rainy day again, and after running around feeding horses, and going to basketball practice got home and threw this together. I thought it was pretty colorful and a little worthy of a snapshot.

Winter, winter, winter, the things you do to us. I'm not particularly fond of the cold, being a child raised in the very south (FL). I go through enough lotion during winter which makes me feel like this leaf here sometimes. But I'm trying to live in every moment so I'm making myself think about the good things about winter like: soup(love homemade soup), hot chocolate with marshmallows, coffee all the time, fires in the firepit & roasting marshmallows for smores, beautiful scarves(I ruined one washing it, sniff), BOOTS!, hats. Yeah, winter is a little more tolerable now.

It has been raining the past few days but not today so Yay! I got to go outside today to get some shots! Even though technically this is still inside the barn (these were the cutest).
This is Casper, he is a pretty little white pony at the barn where I board my horse. He is a very grumpy boy. He didn't start off with that great of a life. He has good owners now, but he is still a little scarred. He doesn't like kids at all, and not really any other horses, or ponies either. I get him though, and we have a little bond. He's also very photogenic!

A new year for new things. I have a list of goals for the year that I'm pretty confident I can do with some work. I'm excited to try to accomplish what I have set out for myself. Starting off the new year with picture #1 of 365. I hope everyone has a love filled, great year!
